It is a body cleansing program developed by specialists, which consists of a set of diagnostic and therapeutic measures aimed at gently cleansing the body of toxins (sometimes referred to as “slags” in everyday life):
- viruses,
- bacteria,
- fungi,
- protozoa,
- helminths (endotoxins);
- dangerous chemical compounds (dioxins,
- pesticides,
- nitrates,
- parabens,
- phthalates, bisphenol A, triclosan, heavy metals, etc.) found in the environment and entering the body through food and water, through the respiratory organs and through the skin (exotoxins).
It is important to distinguish wellness detox from other types of detoxification of the body — it is a comprehensive wellness program aimed at gently and naturally cleansing the body of accumulated toxins and waste products, as well as restoring resources and forming healthy habits.
Wellness detox is not a medical procedure, but a wellness retreat for the body and mind. It is about supporting the body’s natural processes, not about forced and drastic “cleansing.” However, before starting any program, it is essential to consult with your doctor, especially if you have chronic diseases. Avoid clinics that offer aggressive detoxification methods (fasting, questionable procedures), including those involving medication. The best choice is a program that combines gentle cleansing with healing and learning healthy habits.
The main results of wellness detoxification programs are:
- rejuvenation of the body,
- sustained weight loss,
- normalization of blood sugar levels,
- increased resistance to infections, and more.
To achieve this, a number of restorative and wellness techniques are used in the detoxification program:
For example, in addition to well-known methods such as xenon therapy, cellular rejuvenation, MOC, etc., the list of hardware and physiotherapy methods also includes the following procedures:
- systemic magnetotherapy – neutralizing the effects of man-made electromagnetic factors;
- spectral phototherapy – restoring the microelement composition of organs and tissues;
- quantum endovascular therapy – normalizing the molecular profile of blood;
- cryotherapy – restoring the functionality of cells and organ systems.
The detoxification program pays special attention to spa treatments, which not only increase the comfort of treatment and improve the patient’s appearance and emotional state, but also:
- stimulate the lymphatic system;
- regulate lymphatic drainage processes;
- deep cleanse the skin, the largest filter organ in the human body.
Phytotherapeutic procedures using preparations solve the most difficult task of the standard: the transformation of fat-soluble toxins that are capable of overcoming cell membranes and penetrating into cells, and therefore pose the greatest danger. Such toxins are difficult to remove from the body. The preparations used in the phytotherapy course trigger a chain of biochemical reactions in the patient’s liver, transforming fat-soluble forms of toxins into water-soluble ones and thus providing the conditions for their removal from the body.
The psychological comfort of the patient is also important for detoxification clinic specialists, which is why the list of procedures includes methods inherent in traditional Eastern medicine: meditation, massage, and treatments that, taken together, relieve the effects of stress and harmonize the patient’s emotional state.
Restoring the digestive system
A central place in detoxification programs is given to restoring the functionality of the digestive system. To do this, the 4R principle is applied, formulated by specialists at The Institute for Functional Medicine (USA) and involving four stages:
1. Remove – removal of allergens, pathogens, parasites, toxins that enter the body with food, foods to which an individual intolerance has been identified, fast food components, and other harmful industrially produced foods.
2. Replace – replacing pathological factors of digestion by selecting and compensating for enzymes, normalizing the acidity of gastric juice, and modifying the composition and quality of bile.
3. Reinoculate – repopulate the digestive tract with healthy intestinal microflora using probiotics (beneficial microorganisms), prebiotics (nutritional medium for probiotics), and synbiotics (combinations of probiotics and prebiotics).
4. Repair – restoring the digestive tract to its normal state by repairing damage to the mucous membranes of the stomach, small intestine, and large intestine and healing the intestinal wall.
Diet therapy and drinking regimen as part of detoxification programs
Diet therapy
The patient is transferred to a low-calorie diet consisting of foods containing inducers – nutrients that stimulate the detoxification process. The patient’s wishes (to lose/gain weight) are taken into account, as well as the presence/absence of allergies and diabetes.
Diet therapy is carried out in stages and in accordance with the 4R principle:
The first stage is fasting and dieting. Starting from the second day of their stay, during the active cleansing period, patients are transferred to a reduced diet.
The second stage is transitioning to a separate diet. The attending physician and dietitian begin to transition the patient from a reduced diet to a separate food diet, gradually increasing its calorie content with vegetarian pureed soups, berry mousses, vegetable dishes, rich vegetable and bone broths, and protein in the form of eggs.
The third stage is a separate diet. After completing the program, the patient continues to follow a separate diet at home, following the recommendations of the attending physician and dietitians at the clinic.
If desired, the patient receives individual dietary support (not included in the cost of the programs).
Drinking regime
Throughout the program, the patient adheres to the drinking regime recommended by the attending physician. For this purpose, low-mineralized drinking water is delivered to the patient’s room daily. Its consumption helps regulate interstitial fluid movement, stimulate the detoxification process, enhance metabolic processes, improve cellular respiration, and stimulate lymphatic drainage and interstitial cleansing mechanisms.
The patient should be assigned a treating physician who:
- individualizes the program based on the results of the diagnosis;
- monitors the patient’s condition;
- evaluates the success of the prescribed therapeutic and preventive measures;
- advises the patient on how to maintain the results of the program after its completion.
- If necessary, the doctor makes changes to the program by including (or excluding) certain diagnostic and therapeutic and preventive techniques.
Diagnostics
Each detox program must include a diagnostic complex. The basis of such a complex can be a set of laboratory and instrumental studies compiled for a personalized detoxification program. During the initial examination, the attending physician talks with the patient to clarify their complaints and medical history. Based on the results of the conversation, additional tests and consultations with specialists may be prescribed. The patient may be recommended a comprehensive diagnostic examination (check-up).
Treatment
Treatment is usually carried out under the round-the-clock supervision of the clinic’s medical staff. The treatment and prevention complex includes procedures that restore:
- the detoxification function of filter organs;
- lymphatic drainage;
- the functionality of organ and system cells;
- emotional balance.
In consultation with the attending physician, the list of such procedures can be expanded to include cosmetology, aesthetic, bath and spa services, massages, and individual sports activities.
Against the backdrop of cleansing the body, the effectiveness of care procedures is significantly increased.
If contraindications to certain procedures in the program are identified, the attending physician adjusts the plan of therapeutic and preventive measures in such a way as to completely ensure the patient’s safety.
The procedures begin early in the morning and, with short breaks, fill the entire day until 9-10 p.m. Such an intensive schedule allows you to focus as much as possible on the treatment process.
End of the program
The end of the program at the clinic does not mean the end of the entire therapeutic and preventive process of cleansing the body. The process of removing toxins from the body will continue for a long time – within 20-30 days.
At the final consultation, the attending physician provides the patient with a Health Passport — a multi-page medical document containing: the results of all laboratory and instrumental examinations; protocols of consultations with specialists; personal recommendations for lifestyle and dietary changes, taking biologically active supplements, etc. Following these recommendations will enhance the effect of the program, prolong its effect, and, in general, improve the patient’s health.
